The Manual Adjusta-Bow Roller has a shaft that permits changing the amount of spreading effect of the roller by use of a ratchet wrench that is provided. The spreading effect is similar to the fixed bow roller, but the amount of spreading can be varied by changing the radius of curvature. The adjustment range for the manual adjusta-bow roller would be 0-3% of the roller face length. For example, a roller with a 100" face length would have a working range of 0" to 3" of bow. This is also referred to as changing the amount of bow of the roller. This roller is valuable for use on webs that require a very precise amount of spreading (i.e. slit separation and light gauge films). If more than one type of web material is to be spread, or if the material has large variations in thickness and/or width, or if the material is sensitive to temperature or humidity, the adjusta-bow roller is normally recommended. The spreading effect of the roller can be adjusted as desired while the web is running at full speed.
The Manual Adjusta-Bow Roller is only available in roller sizes of 5.125" diameter and smaller, and on the 6.3" diameter roller with a 1.75" or 2" diameter shaft.
A manual Adjusta-Bow roller allows the operator to improve the performance of the bowed roller by adjusting the amount of bow. The Adjusta-Bow is recommended when it is difficult to predict the spreading requirements due to variables encountered on machines that run different grades, types and weights of materials.
